Hi beauties! I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin recently. Thank you for showing the love! It’s about time I share with you some of the things that I’ve been doing in order to get my skin glowing. Before I begin, I’d like to say that it has taken me awhile to get to this point; if you are on a skincare journey remember that you won’t see a change overnight.

If you’ve had issues with your skin be consistent with whatever routine you follow in order to hopefully see results. To see some of my skin care tips, see below!

  • Water. I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again. I drink A LOT of water and still do! One thing that I’ve done differently with my water intake these past few months is adding ingredients to it such as lemon, lime, cucumber, apple cider vinegar (2 tsp) and ginger. Sometimes I add each of these ingredients alone, and sometimes together. These ingredients help to detox my body while keeping it hydrated daily.
  • Sunscreen. If you’ve been following me for awhile you know how important I think it is to use sunscreen, even if you have dark skin such as myself! Wearing sunscreen helps to reduce the appearance of scarring while protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. I think wearing sunscreen has also helped me not to get wrinkles 🙂
  • Eating lots of vegetables. I’ve been eating a lot of veggies – a lot! To the point that I consider myself a part-time vegetarian. This newfound diet has defiantly had a positive impact on my skin. It’s clearer, brighter, and smoother. This lifestyle change is something that I’m definitely going to continue to do when it comes to my diet.
  • Weekly mask sessions. I apply a mask at least 2 times a week. Doing this has helped me to maintain refreshed skin that is cleared out of dirt and debris more consistently. Doing this has given my skin the ability to soak in all the benefits of the products that I use afterwards.
  • Oil. My not so secret, secret is always adding a facial oil at the end of my skincare routine. I find doing this helps to keep my face subtle (especially during the cooler season) and it locks in the benefits of the serums, toners, and moisturizers that I use (in my opinion).
  • Less exfoliating. I’ll admit, I used to exfoliate daily. While doing some research I learned that doing this may not be the best thing for your skin, it may lead to irritation. Immediately after learning this, I reduced the amount of times I exfoliate to about  3 times a week. I don’t notice any negative consequences and will keep it up. Currently, my go-to exfoliating product is Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). AHA is a water soluble acid that helps to increase the luminosity of your skin by gently exfoliating off the outer dead layer.
  • Serums are by BFF. I’m obsessed with serums. Currently, serums with Vitamin C are my go-to because they help to brighten my skin. Think of serums as a concentrated skin care product that want to provide your skin with a potent shot of great ingredients to your skin.
