Hello fellow foodies! It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a restaurant review and I’m glad to do so featuring Northern Maverick Brewing Co located in Toronto, Ontario. Northern Maverick Brewing Co is a brewpub that provides customers with a selection of beers along with comfort food options.
About a week ago a friend and I visited Northern Maverick Brewing Co Summerlicious 2019 menu. As soon as we saw the 3-course line-up we knew we had to try it out!
It has been awhile since I had a vegetable pakora so as soon as I saw it as an appetizer option on the Summerlicious 2019 menu I knew I had to get it. This was beyond delicious. The vegetable pakora was mainly composed of white potato and included green onions and fragrant and flavourful spices. From my previous experience of eating traditional vegetable pakora’s I found that these ones were not spicy. They were mildly seasoned so as to not overwhelm your palette. They had the perfect crisp on the outside and were seasoned well on the inside. The sauce that was drizzled on top was slightly tart and citrus in flavour; a great compliment to the Indian spices used.
At this point, from the pictures alone your mouth should be watering.
For my entree I had fried chicken with a side of cornbread and coleslaw. This was the juiciest, crunchiest, most delicious pieces of fried chicken I’ve had in awhile! For the entree I received 3 large portions of perfectly seasoned friend chicken that wasn’t too salty or bland. Spices seemingly consisting of paprika, pepper, and smoke were weaved throughout each piece. With each bite of chicken I got the crunch that I was looking for along with the flavoured juicy piece of chicken on the inside.
The coleslaw on the side was great too! It had the perfect balance of crunchiness and tang which complimented the fried chicken perfectly.
The cornbread that I had was honestly a little bit underwhelming. Yes it was beautifully presented, soft and moist to the touch but it lacked flavor. Personally I found it to not have the perfect ratio of sweetness and salt. It was a bit bland.
For dessert I had ice cream topped with sweetened peaches and crumble. It was the perfect sweet treat to end my meal! The ice cream was a nice cold soft serve vanilla ice cream that went well with sweetened juicy peaches, and the crumble added the perfect crunch!
Overall I enjoyed my meal. I would definitely recommend checking out Northern Maverick Brewing Co and their menu. The atmosphere was nice and inviting, the service was great and I had a really good time!
