1. Enjoy spending time on your own. There will be periods when you are your only friend while travelling. Love your own company to get through these times so you don’t get down about being out by yourself.
2. Make sure you’ve saved enough money for your trip, including cash just in case an emergency comes up while you are travelling and you are unable to reach out to friends or family for help.
3. I’m a planner. When I decided to go on my first solo trip I knew that I’d have to let the reigns go a little bit and welcome unplanned adventures! The fun in travelling is letting lose and trying new things; that includes unexpected fun!
4. Confidence. Let me prefrence this by saying that I don’t have a sense of direction. Giving me a map to follow is a waste of time. Google maps even gets annoyed by my lack of direction. LoL! Even though I have a problem with following directions that didn’t stop me from travelling on my own.
I had the confidence to know that I can do it! (AND SO CAN YOU). That I could travel in another country on my own without finding myself in another random country. LoL! And if I happened to find myself lost (which I did on occasion), I built up the strength to reach out to strangers to ask for help.
Let me know in the comment section below, if you’ve ever gone on a solo vacation.
