Preparing and eating healthy meals is the most crucial part of establishing a healthy lifestyle. What you put into your body greatly affects your health. In this day and age, we may have become familiar with the importance of eating healthy foods, but for some it may be difficult to achieve. Eating healthy has been a constant battle as part of my fitness journey because sometimes I get so hungry that I eat too much, or I eat anything that comes my way (unhealthy foods). I’ve been focused on pre-planning as well as preparing my meals in advance to keep me on track.
The lunch I ate today can also be consumed for dinner. I ate seasoned brown rice, a serving size of cod with herbs sprinkled on top, chickpeas, and lightly sautéed spinach and carrots seasoned with Italian salad dressing. I created this meal with the thought of ensuring that I had a portion of carbohydrates, vegetables and proteins to help sustain me throughout the rest of my workday. This has become one of my go-to meals the past few weeks as its simple and quick to prepare yet it packs a lot of flavor.
