Zara Black is a beautiful fragrance to wear on the go during the summer season. It is an Oriental-themed fragrance with the top note of orange, the middle note of cinnamon and base notes of both vanilla and musk. Upon initial application, I don’t experience the bold scent of oranges or cinnamon. Those notes develop on my skin after a few minutes of wear.
The first notes I detect when I wear this fragrance is the soft scent of vanilla and musk. I am a huge fan of vanilla scents and generally lean towards purchasing fragrances with this note. I was surprised that I would enjoy the musky note as much as I did with the creamy vanilla. Both notes work well together and are complemented with the tangy bite of the oranges. I find that once the orange scent has developed, it adds a bit of a fruity, fresh component to the fragrance. All of these notes are then grounded by the cinnamon. Generally I find cinnamon to be an overpowering scent, but the way it was developed was in a complementary manner that added a slight bit of spice and an earthiness to tone down the sweet and fresh scents of the other notes. I enjoy wearing this fragrance casually, especially to work as it is not overbearing and I find it to be a scent that is easy to wear alone or paired with other fragrances.
