Olive Oil

These days, there are so many products that claim to keep your skin moisturized that it’s difficult to identify which one works best. I am guilty for constantly being on the hunt for the most hydrating skin care product. One product that I use consistently for my facial routine is olive oil. I have been using olive oil on both my face and body for years; it is a staple in my beauty routine and is one product that contributes to me maintaining youthful skin. As a person with oily skin one would think it’s not a good idea for me to use products such as oil, especially on my face. Quite the contrary! As a healthy fat, the benefits of using olive oil actually keeps my skin soft and subtle.

When it comes to my facial skin care routine, olive oil is used for multiple purposes. Below are a few suggestions:
• To remove makeup (can be used in conjunction with other makeup removers)
• To moisturize skin in place of a face cream (can also be used with a serum); I only do this at night
• To moisturize and nourish lashes

Olive oil for the body is simple to use. Personally, after a shower I will use olive oil to moisturize my body in place of a body cream or lotion about every other day. I find this process has given my skin a natural glow and helps my skin to naturally retain moisture. During the cold winter months my favourite thing to do is to use both a rich body cream mixed with a bit of olive oil to keep my skin soft and subtle.
Have you ever used olive oil in your skin care routine? Are there other oils you’d suggest using?
